Avatar broken all records in India with Rs 220 million


The magnum opus of James Cameron, Avatar, is beating all records one after another.

This film is action-adventure epic garnered revenue of around Rs 220 million for its first weekend screening.
This is the first time a Hollywood film has made such revenue in India flying those films, like 2012, Titanic and Spiderman 3. He also left behind a great Bollywood films of 2009 as All The Best, Kaminey and Paa, the first weekend.
The film, released in 3D, has indeed defeated Rocket Singh - Salesman of the Year and Paa.
Released December 19th across India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, Avatar has established a record Rs 67.5 million on the first day of its projection, making it the biggest opening ever in India.
The dubbed versions in other languages have also attracted huge crowds. The revenue collected in the rooms with a single screen in the following regions - Bihar, Lucknow, Kanpur, Bhopal, Allahabad, Varanasi, Jalandhar and Jammu - were also exceptional. Note that Jammu posted housefull weekend last.

Avatar designed by James Cameron, 14 years ago. This film has major roles in Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver and Zoe Saldana. The film tells the story of a wounded ex-marine, pushed against her will in an effort to settle and exploit an exotic planet rich in bio-diversity, who eventually crosses the power to lead the race in a battle for survival.
"It was noted that recent Hollywood films like Slumdog Millionaire, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Ice Age 3 and 2012 beat the contemporary Bollywood films at the box office," said a source in India.
